Emergency Lighting

EFT Systems cover all aspects of emergency lighting including installation, service and maintenance.

Our emergency lighting packages provide battery-backed lighting devices that turn on automatically when a building experiences a power outage or in the event of a fire. Emergency lights are standard in new commercial and high occupancy residential buildings, such as college dormitories and office buildings. Most building codes require that they be installed in older buildings as well.

Our impartial and highly trained engineers will visit your business for an in-depth survey which enables them to build a bespoke package ideally suited for your premises.

Home Automation

Home Automation allows the home owner complete control over electrical systems and items throughout the property. Some examples include:

  • Turning lights off and on automatically when it’s light or getting dark.
  • Opening and closing curtains or blinds remotely.
  • Timers that can switch appliances on and off automatically.
  • Motorised windows and garage doors that open and close at the flick of a switch.
  • Taps that turn themselves on remotely and then off before they overflow a sink or bath.
  • Fridges that re-order food when you run out. Robotic vacuum cleaners and lawn mowers.
  • Fire and carbon monoxide detectors that can set off sound or flashing alarms.

Automation is about making life in the home easier and safer. EFT Systems Ltd can provide cost effective solutions to your Home Automation needs - we can also advise on what sort of Automation systems are right for you, following a site visit and survey, ensuring the best solution at the right price.

PAT Testing

PAT testing, or Portable Appliance Testing, is an important part of any health & safety policy. EFT Systems Ltd can guide you through both the legal implications and the technical requirements, to ensure you are fully compliant with testing law.

The Health & Safety Executive states that 25% of all reportable electrical accidents involve portable appliances. The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and self-employed persons to comply with the provisions of the regulations and take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment. This in effect requires the implementation of a systematic and regular program of maintenance, inspection and testing.

The Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) places such an obligation in the following circumstances:

  1. Where appliances are used by employees.
  2. Where the public may use appliances in establishments such as hospitals, schools, hotels, shops etc.
  3. Where appliances are supplied or hired.
  4. Where appliances are repaired or serviced.

The level of inspection and testing required is dependant upon the risk of the appliance becoming faulty, which is in turn dependant upon the type of appliance, the nature of its use and the environment in which it is used. EFT Systems can advise on PAT Testing requirements, as well as carry out the testing as is necessary.
