BAFE SP203 Accredition Success!

Due to the serious nature of fire safety, the organisations that govern its practice must be well run and strict with their vetting of companies that wish to gain accreditation in the industry. One of the most prestigious and widely recognised of these associations, the British Approvals for Fire Equipment (BAFE) is an independently run, not-for-profit registration body, providing third party certification to fire protection companies.

Formed in 1984, BAFE have gained a large amount of prestige within the industry, and the advantages for companies seeking accreditation with BAFE are vast.

The range of certification schemes on offer allow you to choose the one tailored to the specific needs of your organisation, which creates competition in that particular corner of the industry. For example, BAFE offer accreditation in areas such as Manufacture of Portable Fire Extinguishers, Fire Detection and Alarm Systems, Emergency Lighting, Fixed Extinguishing Systems and many more, allowing companies specialising in those particular fields to attain relevant certification.

All of the certification schemes designed by BAFE are United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accredited themselves, and are assessed in line with either ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management system standard. As a truly independent body, BAFE are able to offer third party certification to an industry recognised level, meaning that as the person responsible for fire safety in a building (under the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order, 2006) you can be confident that opting for a BAFE accredited company will be the safest option in all cases.

BAFE membership grows year on year, with the organisation recently passing the 1,000 registered members mark – an increase of 250% since 2009.
